     Rise in non-oil exports of Saudi Arabia .. 13% and imports fell 9.4%


     
    Increased exports of Kingdom non-oil commodity  in January last year by 13 percent, to $ 17.07 billion compared with the same period last year, while imports fell 9.48 percent to $ 46.51 billion riyals in the same period. The Central Department of statistics and information in its statement yesterday, the monthly non-oil exports stood at 36.7 per cent of the total value of imports during the period, with exports of plastics and rubber, fashioned and manufactured goods in January. The value of exports of plastics, rubber and articles thereof amounted to 5925 million, accounting for 34.7 percent of the total value of non-oil commodity exports, and chemical products and related second worth 5,478 million by 32.1 per cent, transport equipment and parts ranked third in 1689 million by 9.89 percent of the total export value.

    The Kingdom's represented imports of machinery and equipment, electrical machinery and parts, the highest value reached 17887 million by 27.25 percent of the total import value, transport equipment and parts ranked second with 9,304 million by 16.47 percent, and third in normal metals and products thereof worth 6502 million representing 13.98 per cent of imports. China ranked first in terms of the value of non-oil commodity exports by 13.28 per cent of the total value of exports, second only to UAE by 10.23 percent, followed by Singapore at 7.17 percent. From imports, the United States ranked first with 14.33 percent of total imports, followed by China with 13.66 percent, Germany by 7.35 percent.
